Episode 24 – Self Care for the Self Employed with Gareth Davies and Ryan Row
If you are self-employed, a business owner, freelancer, creative entrepreneur you are going to want to listen to this! Or if you just want to feel warm and fuzzy inside, this will put a smile on your face.
I have Gareth Davies and Ryan Rowe, the Cardiff creators of Let Them See Cake with me today.
Gareth, (award winning sugercraft artist and cake designer) and his partner Ryan, (managing director) established Let Them See Cake in 2017. In 2020, during the first wave of the pandemic, they set up their own cake shop that brought jaw dropping cakes, macarons, sweet treats and gifts to the people of Cardiff. But more than this they bring lightness and joy in a time where we really need it. I mean who doesn’t love cake!
It has been a whirlwind of a journey so far for them and their new team, and in this episode we talk about:
The highs and lows of setting up a business in a pandemic
How Gareth and Ryan take care of their emotional wellbeing and sanity whilst running a busy business
Navigating marketing in the online world and social media
Why Let Them See Cake is so much more than cake
What bring them joy (and what’s their favourite cake…)
The exiting project they’ve got coming up this year
