I'm talking periods and cycles here (but guys please read too)

One for the gals here, but guys please keep reading as all humans have cycles and could benefit from tuning in to their body a bit more. Also super helpful to understand the females in your life:)

Do you work with the energy of your menstrual cycle? Or if that's not so consistent/easy to follow do you check in with yourself and notice any patterns of how you're feeling from day to day?

Working with my cycle is something I’ve been learning about and tracking for a couple of years and has really helped me look after my energy, my business and my sanity!

Society wants things to be very orderly, consistent, and constantly switched on, but humans just aren’t consistent, and women have cycles just like the seasons and the moon. Times to be blooming and flourishing and times to rest and retreat. Since learning about this I track my cycle and try as much as possible to plan things around it. For example, not booking a big event in when I’m due my period, and getting all social when I’ve got plenty of oestrogen flying around in the middle of my month.

I was talking about it on my Instagram and shared some books and accounts I follow that are super helpful. But basically think of your cycle as the 4 seasons....

  • Menstruation = winter (rest and recharge)

  • Pre-ovulation = spring (waking up, creative)

  • Ovulation = summer (socialise, celebrate)

  • Pre-menstrual = autumn (reflective and maybe wanting everyone to f**k off - just me? 😉)

Thinking of my cycle as being in line with the 4 seasons has really helped me to check in with myself, understand where my body and mind are at, so that I can make the most of each phase and actually see the benefit in all of it.
