Why do we feel bad about feeling good?

Building our capacity for joy - Something I’m always working on - in myself and with my clients.

We think we need to toughen up, be brave, be strong, be more resilient.

I can tell you, the people I work with are already bloody resilient!

They are already courageous, strong, hopeful humans.

They come to me because they are tired, bored, longing for more ease and joy.

That’s their ‘weak’ muscle.

When we’ve been brave, strong, resilient and handled the tough stuff for too long we get stuck in a state of ‘survival’. We know it. It’s familiar. It becomes how we see the world.

Ease and joy become the enemy to a survival state. It’s unfamiliar. It’s uncomfortable. It’s scary.

So we have to slowly allow ourselves to experience small moments of pleasure, ease, just okayness!

That shows our system that it’s safe to feel good 😊

Where can you take a sip of little moments of joy today?
