Anxiety doesn't live in our minds, it's in our whole being
How are things going in your world?
I feel I've settled in to this new way of living, and there are many things I'm enjoying about the simplicity of it all. Like no plans at the weekend, which gets me quite excited, I don't know why...
I know it's not as simple for everyone. You may have more on your plate than ever with kids at home, trying to work or struggling with illness. If this is you, then emotions may be all over the place, so today I want to talk about anxiety and tell you about one of my online workshops I created last year to help change our relationship with this pesky feeling.
We talk about anxiety as a mental health issue, which to be honest makes no sense to me. I'm sure that when you feel anxious it's not just happening in your mind, it's happening in your body, in your actions, it's in your whole being. Often my body will let me know that I'm experiencing anxiety before I have even thought about it - holding tension in my stomach, lower back, shoulders. Our mind and body is one whole being, they cannot be separated, and that's why we can't think our way out of anxiety, it's a whole person experience.
So what I show you in this workshop are some simple practices that help you to access that place of peace and calm that lives inside of all of us. It's always there, it just gets covered up by our thoughts, feelings and general day to day life. By tuning in to our body and breath we can access that peaceful place. It's not about getting rid of anxiety, we can't, it's part of the human experience, so we have to change our relationship with it and make friends with it.
My 'Making friends with anxiety workshop' is a 45 minute recorded workshop with me, plus an audio meditation too, and will give you some tools and practices to help you work with your anxious experiences in a whole person way.
This workshop is part of a series of online workshops for anyone who wants to feel a little more alive, a little more themselves and be able to live life on their own terms doing things that truly make them happy.
Here are the 4 workshops.....
