Do you find it hard to rest?

Something that comes up with many people I work with is....

'I find it hard to switch off'

'I can't meditate, my mind is too busy'

'I just can't seem to relax'

So many people find it hard to rest. I mean really rest. Not only sleep, but to find ease, relaxation and rest in their day.

You see, we are not meant to be 'on, on, on' all the time.

We have forgotten how to be humans.

We have forgotten that we are cyclical beings. We are the seasons. We are the moon cycle. We are nature.

We are rhythmic beings, who oscillate....

Breathing in. Breathing out.

Awake and asleep.

Day and night.

Light and dark.

Full moon. Dark moon.

Summer and Winter.

Our human rhythms are knocked out of us from a young age. Our afternoon naps are stopped. We are meant to study and work for set periods of time. 5 days on, 2 days off. Our leisure time is structured. Our work environments are artificial and restrictive. We consume more information than a human brain can process, relentlessly.

And now....

There is no space. No transitions. No gaps. We click out of one meeting and into the next. We are sedentary in our chairs, in our homes, in our cars. Maybe we see daylight after 5pm when the sun is setting. The deadlines and demands on us are impossible.

Our nervous system is stuck in a stress response. It's been there for so long it doesn't know how to return to a resting state.

And you sit down on that sofa at night to relax, unwind and rest, but your mind is whirring, your heart is pounding and you are soooooo far away from restful.

So yes..... you're finding hard to rest because it IS hard.

The world is not conducive to rest. So we have to create the conditions for us to be able to do what the human body so naturally wants to - rest.

So, 'Resting sessions' are back again this winter….

To help you cultivate a better relationship with rest. These will be practical and restful experiences to support you to 'come down gently' into rest. We will be leaning into and learning from the Winter season and all it has to teach us about rest.

More of this to come over the next month. So if this has resonated with you, keep your eye on your inbox for details on dates and booking.

Oh and remember......

We are not resting to be more productive. We are resting because it is our human right!
