Practice makes perfect. Really??
'Practice makes perfect'.
Ah if only….
And who wants perfection anyway 😉
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again - if we want to feel better about ourselves and our lives we have to practice a new way of being.
And this takes intention, dedication and often some support.
It isn’t a linear path where we just feel better and better. It’s more of a dance of two steps forward, one step back and the odd hop, skip and jump along the way.
The way we think and feel and think is deeply embedded in our brain and body - and for good reason. It’s helped us to get to where we are today. You made it! You survived!
When I work with clients in my one to one coaching experiences there is home practice. We take the learning from the session to practice and integrate it into their lives. It takes patience, perseverance and time.
If we’ve walked down the same path for many many years, there’s a well worn groove there.
When we choose a new path we need to consciously keep bringing our attention (and feet) back to it until we have a new groove.
And that’s the part I love - seeing people strut down their new groove! One they have chosen, rather than inherited.
